Evaluation of my college Magazine.

Front page of Magazine:

During the production of my magazine there were different strengths and weaknesses that I experienced. Firstly, one of my strengths was taking photographs that would be used for the front page of my magazine. I made sure I took enough pictures and so when it came to choosing, I had a variety of pictures to choose from.

 I also thought the fact that I had already had a visual idea of what I wanted my magazine to look like; it helped me in producing the actual magazine. I learnt how to use the new version of Microsoft Excel. This helped me by making the layout of the results for my questionnaire neat and formatted.

My first weakness was not having enough knowledge about the functions on Photoshop. This was a huge set back as I had to get information about the functions I wanted to use for my magazine individually. I made mistakes while I was taking my photos. I didn’t use a professional camera instead I used the one on my phone so this made the quality of my pictures for the front page low.

 I had to restart by taking better quality pictures with a digital camera. I also didn’t know how to upload things unto my blog. This wasn’t much of a weakness as I had people around who I went to individually to get adequate information.

Contents Page:

During the production of the contents page of my magazine, there were different strengths and weaknesses that I had experienced. Firstly, one of my weaknesses was that I didn’t have a clear idea from the draft about what my contents page should look like. This wasn’t so much of a weakness as I was producing the page, the ideas came and this made visualising the contents page easier.

 I also ran out of time during the production as I spent too much of my time worrying about other aspects of the production i.e. images and the font. However, I was able to catch up and I posted this on my blog just in time for the due date.

 We weren’t permitted to copy from Google. This was a weakness as I dint have a better range of images for the contents page.

One of my strengths was having the knowledge I needed to design the contents page on Photoshop. This helped me because using the functions on Photoshop wasn’t a huge set back as it was before.

 I also enjoyed taking pictures as this time I used a digital camera with a better quality so my pictures can look professional. I liked the turnout of the contents page even though the layout was much different and better than the layout on my draft.

Overall, I enjoyed the production of my magazine as I also learnt to use different soft wares on the computer that I never thought I would find useful or enjoy using. I also learnt to appreciate the work of magazine designers in the society today.
